In June this year the number of passengers handled per month hit a record

In June this year the number of passengers handled per month hit a record. During the mentioned period 214 405 inbound and outbound air passengers were handled, i.e. by 23% more as compared to the same period in 2007 (174 613).

The increase in number of flights is no less impressive, 3 618 flights i.e. by 21 % more than during the same period in 2007 (2 980). During the first half-year 993 458 passengers were handled, 31% more than during the first half-year of the last year. Flight number increased by a quarter, i.e. up to 19 290 (15 400 during the first half-year of 2007).

It should be noted that in 2007 the annual increase in passenger numbers was 18 %, thus this year’s growth is nearly double. In respect that high season is still ahead, it is quite realistic that this year Vilnius International Airport as the main air gate to the country will exceed the number of 2 million passengers.
