Latest Lithuanian Economic Outlook

Latest market analyses and forecasts show that although Lithuania will experience a soft landing, the country demontrates the best economic figures among the Baltic States and is the most attractive Baltic country for foreign investors.

The EU Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquin Almunia has recently stated that today Lithuania performs best among the Baltic countries experiencing the period of slower growth. The latest DnB Nord Baltic Rim Outlook reveals that in the 1st quarter of the present year only the GDP growth in Lithuania (6.9%) outpaced the growth of the Latvian and Estonian economies (3.3% and 0.1%, respectively) to a great extent. Also, Lithuania demonstrated the greatest leap in the growth of exports (31%) in the EU during the same period.

Also, research results provided in the latest Thomson Reuters & OeKB CEE Business Climate Index show that Lithuania is the most attractive Baltic country for foreign investors.

Nordea Bank economic forecasters claim that the inevitable boom-bust cycle in the three Baltic countries is more pronounced in Latvia and Estonia, whereas in the Lithuanian economy the upswing and the coming downswing will be more moderate.
