Lithuania Offers Perfect Legal Environment for IT Development

The 2008 annual e-readiness rankings of the world’s economies, using a model developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in co-operation with the IBM Institute for Business Value, have revealed that Lithuania offers one of the most favorable legal environments for IT developments among countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Lithuania is No. 2 in Central and Eastern Europe in the legal and policy environment category. EIU’s 2008 e-readiness rankings also show that our country’s overall e-readiness is 38th among 70 countries of the world, and Lithuania is by 3 places up comparing with the result last year.

Nearly 100 quantitative and qualitative criteria, organized into six distinct categories, feed into the 2008 e-readiness rankings. These are connectivity and technology infrastructure, business environment, social and cultural environment, legal and policy environment, government policy and vision, and consumer and business adoption.
